LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF

God's image is in every man and woman.  Therefore, in keeping with God's character of love, it should not surprise us that God has designed and created the universe such that loving each other is the way for us to live.  Although we are sinful, God's image in us, and God's love for us, make us worthy of love by ourselves and by others.  God's love is not only the key to morality, but also to life.  By God's love for us, we can love.  Hating others, or ourselves, severely and adversely impacts our ability to live moral lives.

God provides for us a foundation for practicing love of our neighbors through the last six commandments of the Ten Commandments.  It can be seen that since morality is concerned about our behavior towards God and each other, that the two greatest commandments tie love and morality together.  In fact love and morality, have much in common and in certain cases may be referred to interchangeably.
